This part of the site looks at the Christian perspective of the "end-times" using "secular" or worldly observations... because if you don't think the Bible really prophesies an 'end-times' scenario, you are more likely to believe what people in the world say.
Among Christians, there is a very large group of people who follow the doctrine of "pan-millenialism" - literally that "it will all pan out okay in the end".
I know some who have scoffed at those who hold to that belief; I choose not to do so, because I think that any form of ridicule of a person or their beliefs is not just hurtful, but shows arrogance on behalf of the scoffer.
Ridicule is also a wonderful weapon used in the hands of the bureaucracy to intimidate people into changing their views on anything, because it eventually attacks the person's integrity as perceived by their peers, their family, their workmates... without actually providing any evidence that the claim or comment was wrong.
This is very useful for conveying misinformation about something the bureaucrat wishes to just become a fait accompli without the troublesome problems of defence!
There are actually several different ways of looking at end-times prophetic scripture in order to see what you might call a "future history" of good and bad things. The principal ones are called...
Followers of the Pre-Millenial Tribulation beliefs say that the "bad times" of the Tribulation will occur for either three and a half or seven years BEFORE Christ's return to rule as King over the earth for a thousand years. A "Millenium" is one thousand years, and we are currently entering the third millenium since His birth.
Followers of the Post-Millenial Tribulation beliefs say that the "bad times" of the Tribulation will occur AFTER Christ's return to rule as King over the earth for a thousand years, and correspond more or less to the statement in revelatory scripture that Satan shall be "loosed for a little time... and then the end shall come".
Followers of the A-Millenial View say that while these things will happen, the timing and the order of the "bad times" of the Tribulation are mixed up with the Millenial reign in which Jesus will reign in a sort of spiritual manner, rather than in person. This is in many ways similar to the "Pan" view except that some belief in some of the events forecast in scripture are acknowledged.
My personal views fall into the "Pre-Trib" area, and this is not the place to discuss why; another portion of the site will deal with that. However let me explain that while most I know who follow this line of thought will say that God will "rapture" His own to meet Jesus in the air at that time, some of us feel that the scripture actually says that He will preserve those faithful to Him "in the wilderness" (wherever that may be).
A concise expression of the particular thoughts I subscribe to can be found in a link to Chapter 6 of Hall, Wylie and Watt's "Unto Perfection" which I reproduce under the fair dealing section of Australian copyright law, as a blessing to other Christians. Please follow up, if you wish, with Brisbane Christian Fellowship, which is where these three minister.
(I have created this chapter here, on this site, complete with all its 44 footnotes on a single html sheet, and its two charts as seperate black and white jpgs).
The meeting Jesus in the air will actually be at the end of the tribulation - according to this view - when Jesus comes "with a shout" to rule for a thousand years. In either case, those left on the earth to face "The Tribulation" will be those who were not strong in their testimony of Christ as being Lord and Saviour, and will likely have to accept losing their lives if they claim to be Christians. Sad, but that is what scripture says.
Let us, then, look at the world situation that the Pre-Millenial Tribulation case describes will happen, and then we shall compare this situation with what we can see in the world around us.
Before we do so, we should be aware that ecology experts (who mostly do not believe in God, and therefore do not subscribe to any theories regarding 'Tribulation' or 'Millenia') have stated many times that the earth is heading for destruction because of the things that man in his greed has done to it. Indeed most would appear to say that we are now PAST the "point of no return" and that the planet as we know it is doomed.
I have heard quite short two-digit numbers of years quoted on news and current-affairs type television programmes - most around the fifty years or less. I am not going to argue with any expert who produces good solid facts for any statement - whether I agree with it, or like it, or not. I was trained as an engineer, to accept accurate data presented accurately.
What I don't accept is evidence that is obviously doctored, or evidence that is refuted purely by ridicule, without presenting any factual evidence to the contrary.
I also don't get involved in any of what are called "conspiracy theories" without evidence. However I have lived on this planet long enough to be aware from personal experience just how corrupt and unfriendly some of its other occupiers can be. There's an old saying "Fur people are nicer than skin people".
There will be a single government over the face of the earth.
There will be a single religious leader on the face of the earth.
There will be an absolute unfriendly dictatorship in that government.
The dictator will demand that he be worshipped as God.
Christianity as we know it will be punishable by death. The Bible says by being beheaded.
There will be wars and rumours of wars, famines, earthquakes, etc.
The seasons will be confused which will undoubtedly contribute to the famines.
Money will be replaced by an identity mark of some sort, which identifies those registered with the system who will be able to buy and sell goods and their labour. Everyone who has not such a mark will starve.
Water, the world's most basic and vital commodity, will be in short supply. Why? Because that is likely to cause ordinary people the most anguish.
We have the structure for world government already in place with the United Nations. The organisation is complete in itself, has representatives in almost every country, and would be able to govern if a charismatic leader who is able to charm most people comes to power.
While the United Nations hasn't any military or police of its own, it has access to a very large force from its member states, who can and does enforce those of its rulings it chooses to do so (note: but not all of them).
The United Nations will need to systematically destroy the sovereign rights of all nations that stand in its way, if it is to be used as the vehicle for this scenario. Concern has been expressed in the communications media (talk radio, internet forums, etc) in many "Western" style countries about loss of national sovereignty to the U.N. .
Here are two comment type webpages (1) and (2) about United Nations policies/views which may be of interest.
Here is an interesting address by an US Senator to the United Nations where he makes it quite clear that he objects to much of their ideas and practices.
A godless belief system, acceptable to the World Governments' bureaucrats, has to be established in order for the "system" to work. This includes the State being responsible for supervision and teaching of children, for control of labour, for behavioural standards among the population. Those who don't conform will of necessity be removed and if amenable to indoctrination, will have their thinking "adjusted".
Let us remember Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan... the list goes on... - nobody (including the United Nations - in the case of Hitler the League of Nations) did anything about those empires until much too late... they were all regional, although probably they had global aspirations... here, we are talking about a global power that ACTUALLY EXISTS.
We already have the "World Council of Churches" which is a very diverse organisation of people who believe in all sorts of different Gods... or aspects of Gods... they can easily provide an in-place structure to implement a one world religious order if its local leadership agree to switching their alliances. They were formed with a year or two of the establishment of the United Nations, in 1948.
All industry, agriculture, vocational and spare time activities will need to be controlled. There are all the appropriate bureaux already in existence here, with agreements signed with political leaders in many countries, often without any, or with limited, knowledge of those agreements by their citizens. Australia is one of those countries.
Money will disappear and be replaced with a bar-code, a chip, a ... whatever technology will come up with that appeals to the World Oversight. The technology is already there. Here was a link to the developers of the veri-chip - a tiny grain of wheat implant, designed for both animal and human implantation. The page has vanished, replaced by this one; take the link on that page to here. It has been replaced with the more santised version we are able to link to above.
This is a Windows Power Point presentation file, but it will link satisfactorily through Internet Explorer and other web browsers into an installed office suite or a power point player or creator software installed.
Water is already in short supply in many parts of the world. Seasons have already changed, quite dramatically in places. Various agencies of the United Nations are extremely worried, as are those of national governments.
Look, we have the structure for almost all of it in place. There is not much more that is needed to be done. Do you have confidence in the ethics of vague nebulous bureaucrats in Geneva, or wherever?
I make the point that I do not subscribe to alarmist rumours, nor do I support the messages that subscribe to the many conspiracy theories that abound. However, the huge number of reports that exist of strange things goings on that can't be accounted for in any other way should be considered by anyone who has the ability to sift fact from fiction.
Here are links to some articles about a number of less known "decrees" made by executive orders rather than legislation, specifically in the United States, which would make alleigance to the UN an easily acchieved operation...
First, comment websites - US Patriot Act - US Emergency Powers
Secondly, actual government pages - US Patriot Act - US Emergency Powers - US Military Police Internment & Resettlement Instructions
I hope to continue adding link pages later - with some hard facts in the way of records of things that have already happened, and for which no satisfactory answers have been given.
However, in quite a surprising number of cases, the websites where these details were found have suddenly vanished... in other cases the people involved in sharing the information have either died or disappeared. In all cases their views have been ridiculed.
Why?
Here are some examples: the State of Georgia in the United States proposed a parliamentary bill to introduce the guilotine as its preferred method of execution (i.e. capital punishment) and suddenly their entire website's archive disappears.
Another example; railroad cars manufactured with restraining shackles the right size for human beings welded to the inside. And also railroad car fumigation facilities capable of taking complete trains. Here is an oblique reference to them. Unfortunately, I have lost the urls I read about these on, and am trying to back track... at present I can't find them.
And another example - a sudden proliferation of large numbers of detainment (detention) complexes in remote areas of the US which appear to have no prisoner populations (but capacity for hundreds of thousands), but have railroad tracks and helicopter and regular airports close by.
Also worth looking at is this page although there would be those who would state categorically that it has come from an activist group that has no understanding of truth. I firmly believe that walking around with one's head in the sand saying that this won't happen or can't happoen is what occurred in the build-up to World War 2 inside Germany and the nations they annexed. Little difference imho. Saved here
Take a look here and saved here - the US Army website (not a crank site) has orders on control of interned civilians specifically in forced labour camp situations...
The United States Civil Disturbance Plan 55-2 of June 1984 (also known as Operation Garden Plot) is an even earlier understanding of the need to heavily control United States citizens, long before the era of 9-11, so let us not be fooled into thinking these things came about recently, because of Islamic terrorists... Read the Freedom of Inbformation statement here and my saved copy here
The codename Rex-84 was given to a project undercovered here, which manmy would suggest is the work of a "nutcase". But is it? Read the article for yourself. It fits the pattern well. My saved copy can be found here.
... And I ask you to remember my comment further up the page, in the context of religious beliefs, and taken out of that context now, and applied here to political concerns (where it is just as valid a statement), should you feel inclined to laugh at these all as the ravings of lunatics...
Ridicule is also a wonderful weapon used in the hands of the bureaucracy to intimidate people into changing their views on anything, because it eventually attacks the person's integrity as perceived by their peers, their family, their workmates... without actually providing any evidence that the claim or comment was wrong.
This is very useful for conveying misinformation about something the bureaucrat wishes to just become a fait accompli without the troublesome problems of defence.
Matched with this is the retro-fitting of "investigation" centres in new mezzanine floors in a large number of US Post Offices. And also the legislation passed whereby the US Post Master General shall maintain a computerised record of every person living in their geographical area. I have also lost the urls I read about these topics on, and am trying to back track here too... at present I can't find them.
For example, the unexplained reporting (by private citizens) of military aircraft, painted black, without any registration information, behaving in a seeming threatening way to citizens - including a 1995 suppressed report made on behalf of two State police officers in Virginia by a retired U.S. General - one of the police was a local sheriff highly regarded in his area, and the other was a captain in the police, who had previously had combat experience as a helicopter pilot in the Air Force. Here is a listing of a large number of such articles.
Thank you for reading thus far. I am not deluded. I have sifted facts and data all my life. There are too many points unanswered satisfactorily for me not to have concerns. There are also too many apparently unrelated things that seem to be going on for the likelihood of coincidence. Because the United States is a much more open country in the availability of information, one needs to wonder what similar situations have already been established in less open countries.
After all, there is still speculation to suggest that what was the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics never actually closed down any of its own internal spying and population control machinery when "democratic elections" took place after the fall of Communism, isn't there? So what is whatever the KGB now called doing and hiding?
I'll be quite honest; I just don't know.
But - and a very important "but" - is that God has, as creator and saviour, and as our would-be confidant, made it clear that only he actually knows the answers to the end-times, although he has given us clues as part of a need-to-know set of documentation where the basics are spelled out, and the rest is left to us to accept in faith without proof or what-have-you. If he told us everything, then there would be no need for faith.
And faith is what you need for anything that cannot be proven one way or the other. Including Darwin's theories of the Origins of the Species (Evolution) - (as an example) - because scientists are also divided there. You have no choice but to exercise faith to believe in what Darwin presented as an alternative to the Biblical account, because, like the Genesis account, nothing is proven. I choose to accept the Genesis account because it makes more sense, changing not the slightest, compared with the latest scientific positional move every few years.
Oh Thou, who changest not, Abide with me! Appropriate words of an old hymn.
I have saved a handful of pages from a site about the latest Nostradamus discovery, so that you may see for yourself. Here is where it is, and you decide for yourself. It is in very convincing language, written like a book salesman's advertising copy-writer would, after placing copies of his product out on sale - which, of course, is what it is. A company website, promoting the selling of this new book about Nostradamus.
Doing a google search will flood you with all sorts of theories. If you have the time to sift them all, and still come to the conclusion that nobody has yet proved anything, that's fine <grin> I've better things to do with my time :)
I would just like to make the point that we should all check things out, making sure that nobody misleads us. Ever.
While I do not share Dr. Tim LaHaye's theological exigesis in toto, I think he has done some excellent detective work, and resolved many questions over the time-line of the pre-tribulation school of thought. The main point with which I disagree is the concept of the rapture, and because this isn't a page for theologians, I won't deal with "why" here. However the rest seems logical enough - even for my mind.
I don't think there would be any doubt whatsoever that the world would recognise the rapture if it were to occur.
The theology behind the rapture suggests to me that the world would go on blissfully ignorant of the event. That doesn't hold water with me. However there are also theological reasons why I don't accept the rapture. :)
Jerry Jenkins, the author of the series, is a brilliant story-writer, and the two working in collaboration together produced a nail-biting twelve volume fiction series which holds together both theologically and as a story series. I suspect that would have greatly contributed to the record print runs.
Having seen the DVD movies of the first three film versions released at the time of writing, I'm unfortunately not able to say the same. The striking impression I had was the lack of credibility of the characters, compared with those of the same names in the books. The elimination of key stuff in the time-line (which explains how and why the plot evolves the way it does) was also a great pity. However the film-maker always has to drop large quantities of material to condense a plot into the restricted attention-span of modern film-goers, who will not sit and watch a 4-hour session like "Gone with the Wind". Some film-makers are better at it than others, and perhaps this is a necessary comment.
In the book series storyline, carefully created with an huge cast of people entering and leaving, nothing fails to fit together in the overall jigsaw (in the way that nothing in scripture fails to fit with all other scripture). The number of departures from the books leaves me wondering if Hollywood (in the form of Sony Pictures) having now got its hands on it, is going to so severely mangle the rest of the series, as to make a laughing-stock of Christianity, belief in the inerrancy of scripture and of God Himself, and so on.
So few characters have been developed in the movie version, apart from the main half dozen, which will result in everything "happening to" them, and being done to them, if the rewriting doesn't improve. That will lose so much of what little of Jenkins' story-telling technique remains.
One read early on in the Left Behind websites of the first, and then the second movie, and then on a later visit, I found all references have been removed. Digging below the surface, I find anecdotal evidence to suggest one - or maybe two - legal challenges by Messrs LaHaye and Jenkins against Cloud Ten Pictures. The third movie carries no reference to the original best-selling books, which I see as a give-away that my hypothesis could be correct.
While I applaud Jenkins and LaHaye for their work in producing a quite credible account of what the final days of human-occupied planet earth could be like, I am saddened by the movie dollars lavished on a lazy man's alternative to reading that has been quite ineptly (as I see it) transferred to DVD.
For those who want to read. the series in book form, they are available in hardcover, paperback, and pocket-sized paperback too. They are also available in the Microsoft e-Book format, although most who read books prefer to handle the volume rather than reading it on a screen. I'm one of those, myself.
Well worth reading, to get a feel for how prophetic scripture may (or may not) play out.
Importantly, we should remember that they are novels with a biblical basis.
Please read on - even if you are very tolerant of others' views in a multi-cultural society.
Many people have been brainwashed into having a large amount of political correctness ingrained through continual peddling of that line by the regular media and (sadly to say) from many Christian pulpits.
After all, one cannot be critical of the democratic process, where each individual can have their say, can one? And one cannot be critical of the democratic process where these refugees fleeing from autocratic leadership take refuge and assylum in our sovereign shores, can one?
Of course, under democratic process we really have to offer them funds to establish their seats of learning for their children, this is a multi-cultural society, isn't it? And help them estabish religious worship centres too, where we need (because of democracy) to turn a blind eye to the "occasional" critical outburst about the "decadent society of the 'Christian' west".
Never mind that we as secular humanists know nothing about Christianity, and choose not to want to know... because if we did know, we would realise that the fallen society in which we westerners live, is viewed with just as much concern by Christians.
Remember the two Melbourne pastors who were faced with the Religious Vilification Tribunal in which they had to prove their innocence. They were called to explain their presenting the actual teachings of Islam in a seminar. It wasn't even a large meeting anyone could attend.
To refresh your memory about the case, here are some links for you: firstly the "blog" of secular journalist Andrew Bolt who works for the Melbourne Herald-Sun newspaper which you can find here, and secondly a number of saved pages (because they tend to vanish after a while) which I have on-line here. Andrew has dug under the surface and discovered a wealth of corruption and hidden agendas, and in some of the replies we can read in his blog, the public still has blinkers on. Sad.
This was seized upon by the PC's in Australia as a test case to shut them up. It has cost the pastors several hundred thousand dollars in their defence... and they were still found guilty.
Why? Because the tribunal doesn't deal with facts or truth, like a court of law does. It deals with "if you feel hurt over something said". It doesn't even have to be said in your hearing for you to have a grievance. The documentation is readily available on this case from several sources, and I point you towards my own repository here.
You know, I could point you to many repositories of hard factual comment about Islamic teachings that might scare the pants off reasonable people, but I'll restrict myself to just two, which I have also saved here because of the tendency of such pages to vanish. One is by a scholarly man who has written a series of books about the end-times, whose name is Hal Lindsay. The other's name is Jack Kinsella who edits a series of pages called The Omega Letter.
Please recognise that I write this page from the perspective of someone who knew - and lived among - the more peaceful form of Islam which existed from the middle ages until the rising of those like Yassir Arafat who, frankly, was little more than a bloodthirsty terrorist who probably did more harm to the Palestinian cause than help.
Hard-core Islam uses the deeper teachings of not just Mohammed but his many, many, followers, why by Muslim definition cannot be regarded as subsequent prophets. These are they who the journalists and politicians, in their ignorance, call fundementallists.
One of the reasons these jihad-desiring people want to exterminate the west is really to provide help to their god, Allah to rid the earth of the excesses with which it has become littered, so that the prophesied arrival of their final prophet, Al Mahdi will take place without wasting any time. Human lives that stand in the way of this final purge, under the sword of Islam, are of no consequence to them. They have said so repeatedly.
If we look at just the text of Jack Kinsella's article we may get some idea. The original can be found here and a copy of it is saved here
Likewise, a much greater insight can be gained at Hal Lindsay's text here or his original article here or the page we saved here. Mr. Lindsey's article appears to have been removed from the general listing on his website, which makes searching difficult because there isn't a search box one can type into.
So, what does that mean to us?
I'll quote by pasting a small bit from Mr. Kinsella's article. This is factual, by the way.
There is in existence another religion that fits John's description like a glove. Islam claims to be the third revelation from God.
It claims its existence from Abraham, acknowledges the Divine inspiration of the Bible, but claims that Abraham, Moses, and Jesus were all Muslim prophets.
It is Islam's claim to be the third and final revelation from God from which Islam derives its claim of authority over Christians and Jews.
Islam is not just a religion but is equally a political system carefully defined by Sharia law and fulfilling points 1 and 2 much more perfectly than does the modern Vatican.
Islam is the religion of the sword. The word itself means 'submission' and Islamic law authorizes the death penalty for unbelievers, fulfilling point 3 as a matter of existing religious doctrine -- not a new doctrine forced upon an existing system by a mad pope.
And the penalty of choice for refusing to submit to Allah is decapitation, fulfilling point 4.
None of this has to be developed and imposed upon Western religionists as new religious doctrine by a new pope as previous interpretations required -- it already exists. And it is already practiced by one-fifth of the human race. ... snip ...
Oh, and I have never actually held with the theory that the Pope was the antichrist, either ... but I have had great concern over ecumenism for a long while. What is ecumenism? The bringing together of all religions for fellowship, under an umbrella of love. Why cannot the "evangelical" Christians involved in it not see that this is how God has told us the one world religion of the AntiChrist will be?
Concluding this section, you may be interested in this article from Readers Digest - Australian printed Edition - which I have saved on this site. It is 8 pages scanned, to show the article as published, and it opens in a new browser window because of the size of each "page".
The article throws some interesting light on the mindset of one particular Islamic leader-teacher, and his extremely large madrassa (school) for boys and men, and how their thinking is being shaped. The story appears to be true, and is a worry factor for future peaceable co-existence of Islam and Western cuture.
My friend (who was greeting at the door of his church) gave me a copy of a printed booklet called Millenium Alert: "The Katyusha War". Published by Maranatha Revival Crusade in Perth (Western Australia) it details an enormous amount of stuff not published in the mainstream Australian press, and I suspect a lot of overseas media as well.
Mara-natha, of course, is a word from the Biblical Greek texts, and is the Helenised joining of two Aramaic words (according to Vine). In general use, it often implies "Lord, please come, quickly".
The issue of the booklet my friend gave me was #29 (July - September 2006) and is part of a series subtitled "A Prophetic look at World Affairs". The issue's commentary is around the recently ceased Hizballah attacks on the nation Israel on two fronts, southwards from Lebanon, and northwards from Gaza.
Katyusha? These are Russian manufactured rocket weapons, capable of carrying whatever nasty payload those firing them choose. Furnished to Hizballah through Iran and Syria, two nations determined - regardless of the cost - to wipe Israel as a nation, and Jews as a people, off the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea.
There is not enough space here to provide details, so I shall see if I can find a digital file... it would be difficult and inappropriate to scan the document because of its size. If we can get permission to post it on this site we will advise here.
The most important thing for you to do is to leave all your pretences at being a "good person" at the foot of the cross, at the altar of the Living God, and enter into a relationship with God and Jesus Christ... ensuring that your honest approach in so doing embraces all other Christians you know - the "Body of Christ".
If you do that, and continue to do that, you are likely to be included in the "Bride of Christ"... do you remember the parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins (Bridal Attendants)? If you keep your bottle of oil full, and are ready for His return, you will be saved and kept physically safe.
If you do not, and are not included in those who are hidden in the "wilderness" at the start of the tribulation, scripture makes it very clear that you will have two likely choices - to retain your physical life (and lose your eternal life) by publicly denying Jesus, or to willingly surrender your life by being killed for your faith - to keep your eternal life.
This most definitely happened in historical Roman times, and it currently happens in many outspokenly anti-Christian countries round the world, although the news media would prefer us not to know, or care.
The choice is quite simply yours. In both cases, there is absolutely no point in worrying about what is going to happen. Factors completely beyond your control will ensure you have no say in what is happening in the world.
If you are not a Christian, it might be worth your while, "while it is still 'today'", to look into Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour.
But that is my personal opinion, that I offer you, in sincerity. Don't use it as an excuse for doing nothing. If you do nothing, you are shelving making a decision to a time when it will likely be a very painful decision for you to make, like for those who were thrown to the lions in the Roman amphitheatres, or more recently transported by train to be executed in the gas chambers of the Third reich's SS Concentration Camps.
So far the following are available...
Brother McKnight continued the work started by Rev W H Offiler, and continued by Bros W W Patterson and R Jackson in unravelling the mysteries of the end times as well as a number of other topics.
Brother McKnight's immense teaching archive is available on an Indonesian website, in both Indonesian and English. I am catching up with a sermon outline or study note he emails me each day.
I've done some research on the scriptures which describe firstly God's creating of seperate nations speaking different languages out of the descendents of Noah who were all of the same "stock". To this one can then glean exatly what God's intentions regarding thegathering of the nations back under one banner. The contrast with the present political concept of globalisation needs to be seen in God's context, and I ask you to read these thoughts of mine.
You may also like to read the thoughts of someone unknown to me, who writes about conspiracy theories in general terms here. If you are a thinking person, it might even reverse the direction some of your thoughts have taken over recent times. It certainly did mine, when seen in the light of scriptural prophecy and the endtimes control that God has told us repeatedly will occur, exercised by godless masters over the population blinded to His existence.
And consider this, too. All over the world, unrighteous control over children is being exercised by those who govern the people. They tell us repeatedly that it is for the safety of the children. I am reminded here of words from Lewis Carroll, in a book (I think called "The Hunting of the Snark") I read years ago, where a character called "The Bellman" repeats continually "What I tell you three times is true".
We human beings tend to believe what is repeated to us time and time again. Certainly it happened during the time of the rise of the 3rd Reich, and undoubtedly numerous other less publicised occasions.
